Santiago City village locked down due to COVID-19

SANTIAGO CITY –– The densely populated Barangay Dubinan East here was placed on a four-day lockdown, which started at 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mayor Joseph Tan said the establishments located in the area have been ordered closed as massive contact tracing and disinfection were carried out to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The city now has 91 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 14 active, one death, and 76 recoveries.

Police and village watchmen were deployed to man checkpoints in the area.

In Tuguegarao City, a 67-year-old city councilor has tested positive for COVID-19.

He was reported asymptomatic and attended a city meeting on Oct. 3. He reportedly contracted the virus from a former provincial official who resides in Barangay Caritan Centro.
