COVID-19 deaths in Bulacan reach 100; isolation hub opens

CITY OF MALOLOS –– The number of deaths due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Bulacan has climbed to over 100 on Tuesday, officials said.

The latest three fatalities were reported in the City of Malolos. These include patients aged 50 to 76, data from the provincial health office showed.

The province also recorded at least 6,500 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.

To address the surging virus transmissions, local officials inaugurated on Monday a 54-bed modern isolation facility offered by the religious sect Dating Daan at their MAB Building in Barangay Tikay here.

The facility was named “Members Church of God International (MGCI)-UNTV Health Facility.”

Gov. Daniel Fernando said the facility would boost the province’s capacity to take in more virus-infected patients.

Dr. Raymund D. Pesebre, head doctor in the facility, said it is equipped with security cameras and Internet connection.

In-house nurses and doctors will also be assigned to the facility, which is open 24 hours.
