MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Wednesday said it is looking at conducting the civil service exam online as the coronavirus pandemic persists.

In a televised briefing, CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada said they are already looking for ways on how to facilitate the exams online from the usual pen-and-paper test.

“We are one sa commission that we want to go online. To the new normal, we need to restructure our pen and paper test,” Lizada said.

“So that’s why we gave a directive to the examination recruitment and placement office ng CSC that we want to go online. And in transition, hahanap po ng paraan [we will find ways] how to bridge the gap going to online,” she added.

The civil service exams scheduled back in March were postponed due to the restrictions posed by the community quarantine.

All other career service examinations were also suspended due to the pandemic.

The Philippines has so far recorded 326,833 COVID-19 cases with 5,856 deaths and 273,313 recoveries.
