MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) over the Philippine Sea is expected to bring rains over the eastern provinces of Luzon for Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.
Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday afternoon showed that the LPA, located 480 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression.
Still, it would cause rains for the eastern portions of Central and Southern Luzon, along with the southern area of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte. Residents in the said provinces should expect cloudy skies with rain showers.
Rains may also persist over Palawan as the southwest monsoon still affects the western side of the country.
Meanwhile, Pagasa assured that Tropical Storm Chan-Hom, last seen 1,720 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon, is unlikely to enter the Philippine area of responsibility. If it does, then it might only graze the northeastern border and would have no direct effect on local weather.
The rest of the country including Metro Manila may see warm and sometimes humid weather, with the possibility of occasional rains by afternoon and night.
Temperatures in Metro Manila and Legazpi would play around 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures in Tagaytay and Palawan may only reach 31 degrees because of the monsoon rains.
In Visayas and Mindanao, the provinces of Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, and Zamboanga would see temperatures of 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, while it may peak to 33 degrees in Davao and Cagayan de Oro.
Fisherfolk using small boats are still not allowed to set sail over Luzon’s northern seas, specifically the shorelines of Ilocos Norte, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands due to a gale warning.
Meanwhile, sea conditions around Luzon, and west of Visayas and Mindanao would be moderate to rough. The rest of the country’s waters would be moderate. [ac]
