Crime incidents drop 33% in Caloocan City
MANILA, Philippines — The number of cases for eight focused crimes committed in Caloocan City logged at 426 from January to September this year, a 32.8-percent drop compared to the recorded crimes during the same period last year.
Col. Dario Menor, Caloocan police chief, said during the city’s peace and order council meeting that the index crime rate in the city had significantly decreased from the 634 recorded cases last year.
The figure takes into account eight focused crimes — murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motorcycles and cars.
Caloocan City has been a hotbed for extrajudicial killings since 2016. Of the 426 cases, 211 were marked cleared or the suspect has been identified and arrested.
