97 quarantine violators nabbed in 2 Pasay clubs

MANILA, Philippines — Ninety-seven people were arrested by police in two Pasay City bars for violating the city’s community quarantine rules.

A report from the Southern Police District said the violators were arrested on Friday night at the Matrix Club and Club 78.

Police rounded up 13 male foreigners, six female foreigners, two male Filipinos, 18 female employees, three security guards, and three waiters in the Matrix Club.

Meanwhile, six male foreigners, two female foreigners, 17 customer care assistants, 25 employees, and two security guards were arrested at Club 78.

According to the police report, some of those arrested were having a drinking session in different rooms. Those arrested also allegedly did not practice social distancing, and were not wearing face masks.

Police also confiscated during the operations were a caliber .38 pistol with five bullets, and a caliber .45 pistol with three magazines loaded with 18 bullets.

The police said that those arrested violated the Bayanihan Act, Republic Act 11332 or the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act” and Pasay City Ordinance No. 6121, where the public must wear a face mask, face shield,  and carry a quarantine pass.
