4 towns nearly isolated from rest of Isabela are spared from COVID-19

CITY OF ILAGAN–Four remote coastal towns in Isabela province have remained free of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) since the start of the pandemic, records from the Department of Health (DOH) showed.

Located along the Northern Sierra Madre mountain range and Caraballo mountains, the towns of Divilacan, Dinapigue, Maconacon and Palanan are almost isolated areas.

Except for Dinapigue, these towns have no accessible road network because the 82-kilometer Divilacan-Ilagan Road is still unfinished.

Villagers here have to travel by plane or boat to reach neighboring towns and provinces.

Dinapigue’s road network passes through Dilasag in Aurora province.
