Preregistration for national ID starts in October
MANILA, Philippines — The preregistration for the Philippine National Identification System (PhilSys) will start in October amid the pandemic, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said on Tuesday.
Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the government planned to initially register “5 million household heads in 32 provinces by end of the year.” In 2018, President Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11055, or the PhilSys Act, which establishes a single national identification system.
The national ID will contain the personal details of a citizen, such as full name, facial image, gender, date of birth, blood type and home address.
