MANILA, Philippines—The Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112 has set for trial the motion filed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) asking that former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo be transferred to a regular detention facility.

Judge Jesus Mupas set the initial hearing on February 3.

The court earlier set the arraignment for the former leader in connection with the electoral sabotage case for allegedly rigging the results of the 2007 elections on February 20.

Lawyer Felda Domingo of the Pasay Court said a copy of the court’s order had been served to the Arroyo camp, the Comelec and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC), where Arroyo is currently under hospital arrest.—Tetch Torres
