Natividad, Yves, Diano tie for 1st place in Tuburan Siglakas Chess Tournament
RICHARD Natividad, Fiel Yves and Eden Diano scored 6.0 points in seven rounds to finish tied for first in the Open division of the Tuburan Siglakas Chess Tournament held over the weekend in Tuburan town, western Cebu.
The three shared the combined prize of P5,000.
National Master Merben Roque placed second with 5.0 points and took home P750 while Rommel Ganzon and Voltaire Sevillano came in fourth with 4.5 points in the two-day even, which attracted 36 competitors.
Meanwhile, Diego Claro and University of San Carlos varsity Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano topped the kiddies division with 4.5 points. They won P1,250 each.
Jeffu Durug, Christian Pondoyo and Jethro Claro finished second with 3.5 points.
Titus Corbo, on the other hand, ruled the Tuburan Residents division with 6.5 points beating Gelito Esyo who placed second with 6.0 points and Kim Malazarte who had 5.0 points.

The tournament director was Marvin Ruelan with FIDE Arbiter and USC Chess Team head coach Felix C. Poloyapoy Jr. as chief arbiter. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
