MANILA, Philippines — The island resort of Boracay will receive local tourists from areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified general community quarantine, as long as they test negative for the new coronavirus.
The partial reopening of the popular tourist destination will take effect next month, but with strict testing, quarantine and health protocols to be observed.
“Effective Oct. 1, Boracay Island may accept tourists from areas within a community quarantine classification of GCQ or lower, apart from travelers from Western Visayas,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.
