53 new cases of COVID-19 stalk Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY –– The Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas has reported 53 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), increasing its total number of infections to 4,419 on Friday.
The new cases are from Leyte province with 33; Samar, 10; Southern Leyte, seven; and Northern Samar, 3.
In Catarman, Northern Samar, COVID-19 infected a one-year-old boy.
The baby and his mother were still at the town’s isolation facility, where they will stay for 14 days as part of the protocol.
The provincial inter-agency task force on COVID-19 in Samar has approved on Thursday the request of several local government units in the province to extend the moratorium on the return of the locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
The moratorium on the return of the LSIs in the province will start on Friday, Sept. 25, and end on October 8.
