Taguig City barangays to get P1-M cash each for COVID-19 response

MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City government on Friday announced the release of a P1 million cash aid for each of its barangay to be used for response measures against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“The city of Taguig also believes in empowering barangays. Taguig City has released a total of P1 million per barangay to all barangays in Taguig. So the second tranche, which is P500,000, is released this week,” Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano said during a speech for the launch of new quarantine facilities in the city.

“‘Yung P1 million na per barangay na ‘yun can be used by barangays for COVID related projects,” he added.

Taguig City has a total of 28 villages. Of this number, Barangay Sta. Ana has the most number of active COVID-19 infections with 67 cases.

As of Sept. 23, Taguig City recorded a total of 6,988 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease with 55 deaths and 6,544 recoveries.
