MANILA, Philippines – Two alleged robbers were killed while another managed to escape in a shootout with police in Quezon City before dawn Wednesday, a Philippine National Police spokesman said.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said that the still unidentified suspects were killed around 2:30 a.m. along Quirino Highway near Caltex Station, Barangay (village) Pasong Putik.
In a separate interview, Senior Police Office 1 Diosdado Rosero of police station 5 said that the shootout took place after the three suspects onboard a black motorcycle with unidentified license plate fired at police officers when they were asked to stop.
He said that police were conducting follow-up operations in the area.
Rosero said one of the slain suspects was armed with a caliber .38 and was wearing an orange t-shirt and checkered shorts.
The other suspect was armed with a home-made gun, had blond hair, and was wearing a white V-neck t-shirt and six-pocket short pants, Rosero said.
The last suspect, he said, managed to escape on board the motorcycle towards an unknown direction.
