3 family members killed in Taguig shooting

MANILA, Philippines — Three people were killed when a man attacked a family shortly before midnight Tuesday, police said.

Mark Kapurgos, 23, from Magsaysay Street in Signal Village shot and killed the mother and two brothers of his live-in partner, Miraflor Rafales, 20, after she tried to break off with him, said Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson.

Tecson said Kapurgos also shot and injured Rafales in the incident at Block 112, lot 10, Phase 6 Sitio Imelda, Upper Bicutan, around 11 p.m.

Rafales mother, Flordeliza, 53; Godofredo, 26; and Norberto, 27 were rushed to the Taguig-Pateros General Hospital, along with Miraflor, who was injured n the shooting. Miraflor was then transferred to the Philippine General Hospital

The suspect managed to escape after the shooting.

“Motive stemmed from Miraflor’s intention to break-up with the suspect,” Tecson said.

She said that the victims were rushed to the Taguig-Pateros General Hospital, but Flordeliza, Godofredo and Norberto didn’t survive. Miraflor, on the other hand, was transferred to Philippine General Hospital after sustaining injuries in the face.

Two empty shells and two deformed slugs from a caliber .45 were recovered from the crime scene, Tecson said, adding that follow up investigation was re being conducted by police to locate the suspect.
