THE Talisay City police chief yesterday said he was willing to recruit Joavan Fernandez, the mayor’s controversial son, as a civilian volunteer of the police’s anti-crime group.
Chief Insp. Eddie Recamara said he would welcome the entry of Joavan because the mayor’s son was instrumental in getting City Hall to approve allowances and a daily gas ration of two liters for each of the 40 members of the Talisay City Intelligence Bureau.
Recamera on Tuesday night announced the new benefits to the group, whose members are not allowed to carry guns.
Talks earlier circulated that Joavan, who’s been recently seen at charity projects like a child-feeding program in an effort to reverse perception over his well-publicized arrests for various offenses, was interested to join the police assets.
Recamera said they were thankful to Joavan, but that if he violates any law, he would not get special treatment./Gabriel C. Bonjoc
