MANILA, Philippines — Hotels and business establishments along the stretch of Roxas Boulevard will be among to reap the benefits of the white sand project in Manila Bay, which recently drew large crowds upon its partial opening on Sunday, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said on Wednesday.
“Of course, sa taumbayan, as I have said, nakakita sila ng pagasa or hope sa gitna ng ating giyera sa COVID-19. Second, I think all the hotels in Roxas Boulevard will benefit from this (Manila Bay). Businesses will boom,” Moreno said during the Laging Handa briefing, in response to the huge crowds that gathered to view the artificial white sand overlay at Manila Bay’s coastline.

“Feeling ko may awa ang Diyos. After the rain, there is a rainbow. ‘Yung mga negosyo sa Roxas Boulevard magkakaroon ng high demand in a matter of time,” he added.

The transformation of Manila Baywalk into a white sand beach, made from crushed dolomite, attracted visitors from different places just to see the new look of Manila Bay, even to the point of some risking social distancing protocols during the ongoing community quarantine.
The alleged failure to implement social distancing prompted the country’s top cop to relieve Ermita, Manila police chief Lt. Col. Ariel Caramoan.
