MANILA, Philippines — Public Attorneys Office (PAO) chief Persida Acosta on Tuesday warned the public against giving their personal information as a response to text messages using her name.
“Pina-investigate ko na (I already have it investigated),” she said in a text message.
The message Acosta was referring to claims that the sender was her and she is sending the text message as “assistance in GMA7.”
“Dahil ‘ber-months na tayo mga Kapuso namimigay kami ng maagang pamasko gamit ang 500/sim card# (Because its the ber-months we are having early Christmas giveaways. U are received (Php150,000.00),” the message purportedly reads.
The message also aska the receiver to send his or her address, age, name, work, and status.
Acosta said the message is a fraud.
“Scam po ito (This is a scam). Please do not be deceived,” she said.
