LEGAZPI CITY—A senior citizen whose name was on the “President Rodrigo Roa Duterte Drug Personality List” was shot and killed in the town of Daet, Camarines Norte province early on Tuesday.
Police described Raul Arana, 67, as a “high-value drug target” but no details were given on his involvement in the drug trade.
Lt. Col. Chito Oyardo, Daet police chief, said Arana was talking with two persons when he was shot by still unidentified assailants at his village Bibirao around 10:30 a.m. The two persons who had been talking with Arana are now considered as eyewitnesses and have not been identified.
Arana died on the spot, according to Oyardo.
Forensics inspectors found in the crime scene five shells for .45 caliber bullets and four for 9 mm bullets, indicating that the two kinds of firearms were used in the killing.
Police are yet uncertain if the motive for the killing was related to Arana being on the Duterte drug list.
