ANY alliance between the Cebu chapter of the Liberal Party and her party will be subject to negotiation, Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said yesterday.
Magpale said she thought Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district was just be kidding when he said he wanted her to join the LP.
“The good congressman (Tomas) also knows that my party and his party are in talking terms … As he said, I am here as proxy of his wife,” she told Cebu Daily News.
Osmeña said he would’ve wanted to continue his speech to express his hopes of working with her at LP.
But Magpale said any plans of joining the LP or aligning with them is under negotiation.
Magpale is a member of the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan Ug Demokrasya (Bakud) Party headed by Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, her cousin and political mentor.
She confirmed that talks are ongoing between her party and LP.
She said that in due time Vice Mayor Durano would make an announcement about their plans for 2013.
Magpale said her children assured their full support for whatever decision she makes.
She also said she won’t use her brother, Energy Secretary Rene Almendras for her political plans. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
