MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday said doing away with periodical tests for the coming school year was one of the ways the agency was addressing concerns about “distance cheating,” saying that summative assessments and performance tasks could replace the traditional pen-and-paper examinations.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones pointed out that the cancellation of periodical exams also gave way to alternative assessment measures.
