ZAMBOANGA CITY—Three soldiers from the Army’s 45th Infantry Battalion were wounded in a 45-minute clash with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Patikul, Sulu on Sunday (Sept. 20).

Brig. Gen. William Gonzales, commander of Joint Task Force Sulu, said the soldiers were on combat operation when they ran into at least 20 members of the ASG, a homegrown terror group.

Gonzales said three of the soldiers were “slightly wounded” in the clash “and we pray for their fast recovery.”
