TAGBILARAN CITY—For the second time in about two months, the municipal hall of San Miguel town, Bohol province was closed to the public on Monday (Sept. 21) after an employee tested positive for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Maria Belen Hinacay, municipal information officer, said the closure would allow the disinfection of the building to prevent virus transmission.
The employee, who heads an office in the municipal hall, was believed to have contracted the virus from a businesswoman who had tested positive for coronavirus last week.
The last time the municipal hall was closed was on July 30, when the mother of three employees died of COVID-19.
San Miguel Mayor Virgilio Mendez, a retired director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), voluntarily isolated himself last week after he was exposed to a person who had close contact with a COVID-19 patient.
As of Monday, the province of Bohol has 290 COVID-19 cases.
