‘Marce’ exits PAR, intensifies into tropical storm
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Marce has intensified into a tropical storm but has exited the Philippine area of responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.
“Marce was upgraded to tropical storm category at 8:00 AM today. This tropical cyclone will continuously intensify throughout the forecast period. It is forecast to transition into an extratropical low on Thursday,” Pagasa said in its severe weather bulletin issued at 11 a.m.
The tropical cyclone was last spotted 1,400 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon outside PAR, according to the state weather bureau.
It is moving north northeast at 15 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
“Marce” will move generally north or north-northwest this Monday and will turn north-northeast on Tuesday.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, the new low pressure area being monitored by Pagasa was last spotted in the vicinity of San Jose, Northern Samar and is expected to dissipate within 24 hours.
