Teachers in the United States are calling out parents for their conduct at home while their kids attend online classes.
One elementary school teacher from Florida, Edith Pride, spoke during a school board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 16 about parents’ behavior seen in virtual classrooms, CBS12 News reported on Friday, Sept. 18.
“Parents, please make sure that you have on proper clothing when you are walking behind your child’s computer because we’ve seen them in their drawers, their bras, and everything else,” the Boca Raton Elementary teacher said.
“Parents, when you are helping your children at their computer please do not appear with big joints in your hands and cigarettes,” she said. ”Those joints be as big as cigars. Oh yeah, we’ve seen it all.”
Pride’s statements were met with laughter, but other teachers have agreed with her sentiments.
“I had a father, no shirt drinking a beer at 11:45 in the morning,” one teacher said.
One survey conducted in May and published in The Conversation last July found that parents stressed out with their kids’ distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic have seven more drinks each month than parents who are not stressed with the same the situation. Niña V. Guno/JB
