34 Makati bar-goers, including foreigners, held after ‘Facebook Live’ drinking session

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested on Friday night 34 individuals including foreigners for supposed health violations while engaging in a drinking session inside a bar in Makati which was allegedly recorded in a Facebook Live video.

In a report issued on Saturday, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Makati City police Substation-6 arrested the bar-goers after receiving a tip from an anonymous netizen regarding the Facebook Live video showing a drinking binge inside the rooftop bar in Barangay Poblacion at 10 p.m.

In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Makati police chief Col. Oscar Jacildo said the Facebook Live was used to entice others to join their drinking session.

“Our investigation disclosed that it is one of the patrons to entice others and join the binge party,” he said.

Based on the photos, the bar-goers were wearing face masks but police said the suspects failed to follow ordinances on curfew hours and social distancing.

The suspects are detained at Sub Station 6 while charges for violation of City Ordinance no. 2020 – 76 Extended Curfew hour and Social Distancing in relation to General Community Quarantine are being readied against them.
