TAGBILARAN CITY—A 32-year-old man is facing parricide charges after he killed his wife in the town of Jagna, Bohol province late on Thursday (Sept. 17).
SSgt Jonalyn Llemit, assistant officer of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Jagna police, said Ronito Delig Salamanca, 32, used a kitchen knife to slit the throat of his wife, whose name was not provided, around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
An investigation report said the wife and her nephew were having a drink in their ancestral house when Salamanca came over and slit his wife’s throat.
Salamanca was a local butcher and his wife had just returned from pandemic epicenter Manila.
Salamanca surrendered to police in Jagna.
According to police, Salamanca and his wife had been having marital spats which could have led to the killing.
Police are filing a parricide case against Salamanca, who also faces a case of child abuse for allegedly sexually abusing his 13-year-old daughter in 2019.
