ILIGAN CITY –– The United States embassy has donated medical supplies and equipment to the provincial government of Lanao del Sur to boost its fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Dr. Alinader Minalang, head of the Integrated Provincial Health Office, said the donation included thermometers, pulse oximeters, surgical gown, surgical mask, N95 mask, goggles, gloves, and face shields.
Minalang said these supplies and equipment are a big help in the response against COVID-19 in Lanao del Sur.
These would be distributed to the quarantine facilities of the 39 towns and the provincial quarantine and treatment facilities in Marawi City, he added.
“This act of kindness is a clear gesture of boosting the morale of our medical front-liners who serve selflessly as ‘warriors’ of this COVID-19 pandemic,” Minalang said.
Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo, commander of the Army’s 103rd Brigade, said the items were delivered to the province on Tuesday afternoon via helicopters that landed on the military camp.
As of September 15, Lanao del Sur has 65 active cases of COVID-19, most of these due to local transmission.
Last month, the US embassy also donated hygiene kits and personal protective equipment to Davao City.
The US government has put up nearly P1 billion to support the country’s response against the COVID-19 threat.
