MANILA, Philippines — Acting on a tip posted on the Facebook page of the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield, police arrested 16 people, including a minor, in Taguig City for violating quarantine rules during a birthday party.

Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, JTF COVID Shield chief, said the violators were caught engaging in a drinking session on a street in Taguig City on Sept. 12.

Eleazar said a concerned netizen provided photos of the violation to the COVID Shield Facebook Page.

Eleazar said policemen were immediately sent to Aguirre Street in Barangay Lower Bicutan around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 after they received the complaint and photos from a netizen.

“When the police personnel went there, those who attended the birthday celebration were not wearing face masks and not observing the proper physical distancing,” Eleazar said. —Nestor Corrales
