ILIGAN CITY—A member of Lanao del Sur’s provincial board went public with his coronavirus infection, adding to the growing list of government officials who had been stricken with SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
In a statement posted on his social media account, lawyer Allan Panolong said he was tested on Sunday (Sept. 13) at Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) in Marawi City after learning that the person he came in contact with tested positive for the virus.
It was the likely same person from whom Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. got the virus.
Panolong is currently on isolation at the APMC and said he is continuing his work as a local legislator from his hospital room.
“COVID-19 cannot stop me from performing my duties,” he said.
Also on Monday (Sept. 14), Malabang town Mayor Mohamad Macapodi also tested positive for the virus.
He is confined in an isolation facility in the town.
