3,544 new infections push PH’s COVID-19 cases near 270,000

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s confirmed COVID-19 cases are nearing 270,000 after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 3,544 additional infections as of September 15.

Based on DOH’s report Tuesday, the new coronavirus disease has already affected 269,407 individuals nationwide of which 57,392 are tagged as active cases.

DOH also reported 395 new recoveries and 34 more deaths, bringing the total to 207,352 recoveries and 4,663 fatalities from COVID-19.

Metro Manila still has the most number of new cases with 690, trailed by Cavite with 305, Rizal with 201, Negros Occidental with 173, and Bulacan with 98.

DOH likewise noted adjustments in its data, revealing it has discovered and removed 25 duplicates, including nine recoveries and one death.

Moreover, DOH said that its final validation disclosed that the 538 cases previously reported as recoveries were actually two deaths and 536 active cases.
