LUCENA CITY — Police arrested 43 individuals in Calauag town in Quezon province who breached safety protocols that were put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Calauag police reported that the violators were apprehended in three separate operations on Saturday.
The suspects were caught for blatantly refusing to wear face masks and not observing physical distancing in violation of the minimum health protocols.
Those apprehended opted to render community service and were turned over to local authorities for proper disposition, police said.
The total tally of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Calauag has reached 99 as of Saturday afternoon, with 71 of them already recovered and two others passed away. The town has 26 active virus carriers.
