Pagasa: Rain showers, cloudy skies in S. Luzon, NCR due to LPA, thunderstorms

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will bring rain over parts of Southern Luzon, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was last spotted at 45 kilometers of Romblon, Romblon.

“Patuloy pa rin na nagdudulot ng makapal na kaulapan at ng paminsan-minsan na pag-ulan ang LPA sa loob ng PAR,” weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz said.

(The LPA inside the PAR continues to bring cloudy skies with isolated rains.)

“Sa kasalukuyang analysis, mababa ang tsansa na mabuo ito bilang isang ganap na bagyo, at may posibilidad nga po na in the next 12-24 hours ay posible pong malusaw o mag-dissipate na rin itong LPA,” she added.

(The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a storm, and this LPA may dissipate in the next 12-24 hours.)

Because of the LPA, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) , Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and the Bicol regions.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
