MANILA, Philippines — With many Filipinos losing their jobs due to the pandemic, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) launched an online platform to help workers find job opportunities.
Dubbed the Bayanihanapbuhay program, job seekers can search for free on the sikap.ph website for available jobs.
“We have been receiving a lot of SOS messages from people looking for work. When we were doing our shuttle services, we had passengers who were doing door-to-door job applications,” Vice President Leni Robredo said in a statement.
Adult unemployment reached a record high of 45 percent in July, according to the Social Weather Station. As of Thursday, the online platform hosted 2,796 job postings. Interested companies can upload vacancies and send details to bayanihanapbuhay@ovp.gov.ph. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
