BACOLOD CITY –– The matriarch of the family that owns the biggest bus company in the country has recovered from the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Olivia Yanson, 86, of the Vallacar Transit Inc., was released from the St. Luke’s Medical Center–Global on Wednesday night, her daughter Ginnette Dumancas said.

“The prayers I asked from you did a beautiful thing. It helped mommy recover from COVID and last night, mommy love was discharged from St. Luke’s hospital. She will be in isolation for another seven days,” Dumancas wrote on her Facebook page.

Her mother stayed at the hospital for 10 days.

“The feeling of uncertainty and helplessness is the one that stressed me the most. I don’t think that I can endure all of that tension if I am not assured that you are praying with me for Mommy Love. Grabe gid, I am sure that heaven was flooded with the prayers coming from all over the world.,” she said.

The key to fighting COVID-19 is early detection, Dumancas said.

“That small pulse-Oximeter was the instrument that detected the suspicion of Mommy Love’s COVID. She did not have a fever and her cough was very minimal. Who would ever think that it was already COVID,” she said.

“I am very thankful that we were able to leave Bacolod days before the airport was closed,” she added.
