MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese woman was arrested for unlawful sale of assorted medicines and health supplies inside a clinic in Parañaque on Wednesday night.
In a report on Thursday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has detained suspect Yan Wang, who is allegedly selling medicines with Chinese markings without license to operate from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Yan was arrested after an entrapment operation was conducted inside a medical clinic located at a building in Branco Avenue, Parañaque City at 6:30 p.m.
Confiscated were assorted medicines, medical supplies, and devices with Chinese markings.
Police Lt. Col. Erwin Dayag, chief of Anti-Transnational Crime Unit (ATCU) of the CIDG, said the FDA agents are still confirming if the medicine and supplies confiscated are COVID-19-related.
Dayag added that the medical clinic is supposedly using “dextrose” for treating patients.
Yan is detained at the CIDG headquarters and will face complaints for violation the FDA Act of 2009.
