Bicol, Visayas may experience rains due to LPA’s trough

/ 06:27 PM September 10, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of the Bicol Region and the Visayas may experience rains from Thursday night to Friday, due to the trough of the low-pressure area (LPA) which was last spotted east of Luzon.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) as of 5:00 p.m. showed that the LPA was last located 980 kilometers away east of Baler, Aurora.

Pagasa does not expect the LPA to develop into a tropical depression, although it would continue monitoring the weather disturbance.

But even at this distance, cloud bands near the LPA and on its trough or tail may still bring rains in the said areas, bringing slightly colder weather compared to the rest of Luzon and Mindanao, which will be hot and humid.

The warm weather is expected to persist in Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon, while rains in Legazpi and Cebu may clear up starting Sunday after the LPA makes its approach towards the landmass.

No gale warning has been raised as of now, but sea condition on the country’s eastern coastlines would be moderate due to the LPA.  Meanwhile, the rest of the country’s seas would see a slight to moderate condition.[ac]
