MANILA, Philippines — The total number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines is now at 248,947 after 3,821 infections were recorded, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday.
The health department added it also recorded 563 new recoveries and 80 additional fatalities, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 186,058, as well as 4,066 deaths.
The latest data from the DOH showed that of the country’s total number of COVID-19 cases, 58,823 are active cases.
Data from the DOH also showed that Metro Manila recorded the most number of new cases at 2,079, followed by Rizal with 286, Cavite with 174, Laguna with 168, and Bulacan with 142.
Further, the DOH said that 17 duplicates, 12 of which are recovered cases, were removed from the total case count.
There were also 36 cases that were previously recorded as recoveries but were later validated as 35 deaths and one active case.
