MANILA, Philippines — Law enforcers seized around 2 kilograms of crystal meth, or shabu, from a suspect during a buy-bust operation in Makati on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The operation took place at around 5:30 p.m, in front of a fast-food chain a the corner of Chino Roces Avenue and Arnaiz Avenue in Barangay Pio del Pilar.
PDEA said that the operation was conducted by members of its National Capital Region’s Regional Special Enforcement Teams, its Calabarzon regional office, the Makati City Police Station, and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).
The suspect was identified as Asraine Bolao.
Authorities also seized from the suspect several identification cards, a cellphone, and the marked money undercover officers used to buy the drugs.
The substance was seen placed in cellophane wrappers with Chinese characters on them.
PDEA has not released the possible street value of confiscated shabu, but based on their previous estimates, it could be around P13.6 million.
