LEGAZPI CITY—Three persons wanted for obstruction of justice for allegedly coddling a notorious gang member were arrested in simultaneous raids on Wednesday (Sept. 9) in Libon town, Albay province, a police report said.
Capt. Dexter Panganiban, Albay police spokesperson, said tracking teams armed with arrest warrants pinned down the suspects’ location at three villages in Libon.
Arrested were Jesus Obedece Nero, 48, a farmer; Fedilmar Payson Revilla, 37, a construction worker and Artemio Madronero Cerillo, 49, farmer. All were residents of the village of Molosbolos in Libon.
Police arrested Nero at the village of Bulusan past 9 a.m. Some 30 minutes later, Revilla was arrested at the village of Bonbon while Cerillo was arrested at the village of Zone 4 at 10:30 a.m.
The three men were respondents in a criminal complaint for allegedly harboring a member of a gang called Concepcion, which was notorious in the area.
Last June, police were serving an arrest warrant for members of the gang allegedly hiding in the residence of Arturo Madrenero Payron, 55, the incumbent village chief of Molosbolos, when they were attacked by members of the crime group that led to the killing of a gang member and wounding of a policeman. Payron was arrested during that police operation.
The men arrested on Wednesday are now detained at the town police jail.
