Quezon logs highest-single day recoveries but infection rate still surges
LUCENA CITY –– At least 35 people have recovered from the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Quezon province on Tuesday, bringing the total number of healed virus carriers to 835.
Tayabas City topped the list with ten recovered patients in a single day, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) revealed in its 5 p.m. report.
But based on the daily tally of new COVID-19 cases, the number of virus carriers was still rising. Among them is a 95-year-old woman from San Antonio town who tested positive on Tuesday.
Quezon, which reverted to the more lenient modified general community quarantine since September 1, recorded 1,310 COVID-19 cases, with 42 fatalities, and 433 active virus carriers as of Tuesday afternoon.
The tally of recorded COVID-19 patients showed a sharp rise since there were only 187 cases in the province in July and only 160 between March 16 to June 30.
In August, a total of 703 new cases were recorded. But from September 1 to 8, health authorities already recorded an additional 230 fresh cases.

Authorities did not explain the relationship between “Case No. 34” and the six new virus carriers.
The municipality located in the boundary of Quezon and Batangas provinces recorded a total of 46 cases, but 29 of them have recovered, while two others have died.
