Man, 58, dies of COVID-19 in Tuguegarao City
TUGUEGARAO CITY –– A 58-year-old man with underlying health conditions has died of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), officials said.
The patient, a resident of Barangay Ugac here, became the 12th fatality related to COVID-19 in Cagayan Valley, said Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) chief.
Baggao said the man died while being treated at the CVMC. He had been suffering from acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and hypertension.
It was only found that the patient had been infected with COVID-19 after his swab result that came out after he died on Monday evening.
Baggao said the man had no known exposure to the virus other than visiting Barangay Bagumbayan, an area with recorded COVID-19 cases, on Sept. 6 and a bus terminal in August.
Cagayan Valley now has 976 COVID-19 cases, 348 of which were active, and 617 recovered, said Dr. Rio Magpantay, Cagayan Valley health director.
