Negros Occidental town mayor locks down village, 6 subvillages due to COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY –– The mayor of Bago City in Negros Occidental has locked down Barangay Ma-ao and six puroks of Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta due to a spike in coronavirus cases.

Mayor Nicholas Yulo declared these “critical zones” under enhanced community quarantine and imposed stringent limitations on the movement of residents starting 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday until 11:59 p.m. on September 22.

Barangay Ma-ao has 15 active COVID-19 cases, 39 probable cases, and more than 50 suspected cases that affect its 13 puroks.

The six puroks locked in Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta are AstroMontara, Violeta I, Violeta II, Crossing La Carlota, Kawilihan, and Purok Brgy. Site.

There are five COVID-19 cases and suspected cases affecting the six puroks, the mayor said.

Yulo said a liquor ban would be imposed in Barangay Ma-ao and the six puroks of Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta during the lockdown.
