8-month-old baby in Quezon tests positive for COVID-19

LUCENA CITY –– An 8-month old boy from Gumaca town is among the latest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients in Quezon province.

Gumaca Mayor Webster Letargo revealed on social media Tuesday that the infant from Barangay Gitnang Bario is the 60th confirmed COVID-19 patient in the locality.

The patient, who has no known direct contact with a COVID-19 case and no history of travel to places with virus cases, was tested positive on Monday.

Letargo said the infant shows symptoms of the illness but did not elaborate.

As of Monday afternoon, Gumaca has logged 57 COVID-19 cases, but 25 of them had recovered. The town has 32 remaining active virus carriers.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 fatality in the province rose to 41 after another patient died in San Antonio town on Monday.

Records from the Integrated Provincial Health Office shows that the COVID-19 fatality was the second in San Antonio.
Quezon, which reverted to modified general community quarantine status, has recorded 1,284 COVID-19 cases since early March.

The province logged 708 recoveries but still maintain 443 active virus carriers.
