MANILA, Philippines — Two residential areas in a Taguig village were placed on localized community quarantine (LCQ) due to clustering of COVID-19 infections, city government said on Monday.

The local government announced Pulong Kendi-2 and Samasipat in Barangay Sta. Ana are on lockdown from Sept. 8, Tuesday at 7 p.m. to Sept. 23, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Taguig government, however, did not disclose details on the number of COVID-19 cases in these residential areas, though the village has recorded 155 total COVID-19 cases with 129 recoveries and zero fatalities.

“This move was based on the recommendation of Taguig CEDSU (City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit) after the analysis of the results of the RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests, active case finding and extensive contract tracing conducted in Barangay Sta. Ana have shown a general community transmission in the cluster of COVID-19 cases from the areas,” read the statement from the city hall.

Under Taguig’s guidelines, areas under LCQ will be cordoned off to prohibit entrance and exit of residents.

The local government’s city health office also ordered to restrict the movement of residents, move all confirmed cases to quarantine areas and conduct testing to suppress the spread of the virus.
