ELECTRIC SHOCK

A passing motorist saved the life of a 24-year-old painter who accidentally touched a live wire while painting the roof of a commercial building in V. Rama Avenue Cebu City, yesterday.

Juvel Pataytay suffered third-degree burns after the tip of his roller brush touched the wire while he was alone painting the roof of Luisa Uy’s building.

Allan Limoran, 41, was driving to work on his motorbike when he saw the victim burning in flames and shouting for help from the roof.

Limoran, an electrical engineer, climbed a wooden scaffold and cut off the victim’s burning clothes to release him. Then he gave him first aid treatment while waiting for ERUF paramedics and firemen to arrive..

“His body was very hot,” he said.

Man kills self

A painter was found dead in his room yesterday in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

A friend discovered Marvin Alcover, 26, kneeling on his bed with a T-shirt tied around his neck and the other end tied to the roof beam past 6 a.m.

Police said the victim was drinking with a friend last Sunday night while pouring out his troubles. The painter was reportedly brokenhearted after his girlfriend broke up with him. correspondent chito aragon

FARMER hangs self

A 50-year-old farmer was found hanging dead from a star apple tree in barangay Tigbao, Badian town, south Cebu, last Sunday.

Benigno Amagac Salandro was discovered by his 15-year-old son at 3 p.m. A nylon rope was tied around his neck and the other end tied to a branch of the tree.

The victim was brought to the Badian District Hospital where doctors declared him already dead.

Police said the victim fell from a tree a few years ago and had poor health since then. correspondent gabriel bonjoc

Guns proficiency training

The chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) said he will intensify basic training for guns proficiency firing for all policemen in Central Visayas.

Supt. Marcelo Garbo announced this yesterday afternoon after Camp Crame issued a statement that many policemen nationwide can’t hit their targets.
