MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather is expected nationwide this Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a 4 a.m. forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is currently affecting the weather in the western section of Luzon but will not cause widespread rains.
“Dahil sa mahina ang habagat, ang buong Luzon ay makakaranas ng maganda at maaliwalas na panahon,” he said.
(Because the southwest monsoon is weak, Luzon will experience fair weather condition.)
“Makakaranas pa rin ng matinding init ng panahon lalo na sa bandang tanghali o sa hapon pero may tsansa pa rin ng biglaang pagbuhos ng ulan dahil sa thunderstorms,” he added.
(The weather will also be hot especially at noon or in the afternoon but there are still chances of sudden rains due to thunderstorms.)
Rain showers may also be expected in other parts of the country, according to Aurelio.
“Sa Visayas at Mindanao makakaranas din ng fair weather maliban sa afternoon rainshowers dahil sa thunderstorms,” he added.
(In Visayas and Mindanao, there will also be fair weather except for afternoon rain showers due to thunderstorms.)
Meanwhile, Typhoon Haishen, continues to move north at 35 kilometers per hour and was last spotted 1,585 kilometers north northeast of extreme northern Luzon and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
