MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 23,074 new recovered cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), raising the number of patients who have recovered to 184,687.
Meanwhile, the latest data from the DOH also showed that there are 2,839 new infections of COVID-19, raising the total number of cases in the country to 237,365.
Of the total number of infections, 48,803 are active cases.
The most number of newly recorded cases were from Metro Manila with 1,170, followed by Negros Occidental with 195, Laguna with 190, Cavite with 182, and Rizal with 154.
The DOH also reported 85 fatalities, raising the COVID-19 death toll to 3,875.
The health department also noted the discovery of 44 duplicates, of which there are 28 recovered cases that were removed from the total case count.
There were also 27 cases that were previously reported as recovered but were later identified as 26 deaths and one active case after final validation.
The rise in the number of COVID-19 recoveries is due to DOH’s “Oplan Recovery” where it tags a patient as recovered after completing 14 days in isolation from the time they started showing COVID-19 symptoms or their samples are collected for testing.
