Lucena City blaze: Man trapped to death inside home

LUCENA CITY – An hour-long blaze killed a 40-year-old man in this city on Saturday night, police reported Sunday.

The Lucena police said the victim, Rodelio Mendoza, reportedly died from suffocation inside his burning house in Barangay (village) Ilayang Iyam.


The fire of still unknown origin started at the victim’s house around 6:10 p.m. Witnesses said the victim, who was trapped inside, was heard calling out for for help.

No one else was injured during the blaze that destroyed an estimated P900,00 worth of properties.
