MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and most parts of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms as Typhoon Kristine will maintains a safe distance from Philippine landmass, the state weather bureau reported Saturday morning.
“Yung kabuuan po ni Kristine, hindi po nakakaapekto sa ating bansa, at yung mga pulu-pulong pag-ulan o yung mga localized thunderstorms na nakikita natin, ito po yung mga nakakaapekto sa atin na walang kinalaman sa bagyo at wala rin kinalaman sa habagat,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Benison Estareja said in an early morning live weather update.
(Typhoon Kristine does not affect our country, and the localized thunderstorms that we see, this is the one that affects our current weather conditions, and this has nothing to do with the typhoon as well as the southwest monsoon.)
Meanwhile, “Kristine” was last spotted at 1,135 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
“Kristine” packs maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
The typhoon was also monitored moving northwest at 20 kph.
